In movies, tales about immigration and finding a new life in a foreign land are usually usually filled with trials, tribulations, and the ultimate triumph. These tales reinforce the idea that the world is a global village. They also present the hypocrisy, double standards, and corrupt morals of fellow human beings.
Naples to New York presents one such tale of two young Italians, Celesti and Carmine, who illegally board a US-bound ship in dreams of finding a better life. The movie is more than just their journey, as it also shows the conditions of the poor and immigrants in a land that promised them great fortune. Celesti and Carmine dream of going to New York to find a fresh start. Let’s take a look at their journey from Naples to New York.
