On Friday, August 30, the Paralympic swimming men and women were once again the stars as they won three medals in La Défense Arena on the second day of competition. But there is also the first Paralympic medal in Italian history in taekwondo.
A gold medal came, this time from Stefano Raimondi: after being left at the foot of the podium in the 50-meter freestyle S10, the new Italian dad redeemed himself in a big way by winning the Paralympic title in the 100-meter breaststroke SB9.
After her bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle S5 on the first day, Monica Boggioni again climbed the Paralympic podium, this time in the shorter distance, with another bronze in the 100-meter freestyle S5.
Soon after, it was Carlotta Gilli's turn again, who after a gold medal in the 100-meter butterfly returned to the podium with bronze in the 100-meter backstroke S13.
But these are not the only memorable moments of the day for the Italian team, which at the close of the day was able to celebrate Antonino Bossolo's bronze medal in Paralympic taekwondo, the first in history for the Italian team.
Closing out the day on a high note were the Italian women's sitting volleyball team at the Paris South Arena, who made their Paris 2024 debut by winning their first match 3-0 against the home team.
