Paris World Paralympic Track and Field Championships: new Sabatini-Caironi-Contrafatto triumph

Paralympic athletics confirms itself as an all-Italian conquering ground, as happened at the Tokyo 2021 Paralympics. A triumph that always sees the same protagonists, with the same placings. In the 100-meter T63 race at the World Championships in Paris 2023, the podium confirmed the same as seen in some competitions in the last 2 years: Ambra Sabatini gold, Martina Caironi silver and Monica Contrafatto bronze.

An exact replica of what has already been seen in other events, an immense joy for the Charlie's Angels of Italian Para athletics. Celebrating double, however, is Ambra Sabatini, who also sets a new world record in this discipline: 13.98, against the 14.02 previously achieved by her colleague and friend Caironi, who finished second, while Sicily's Contraffatto was third.

"I have no words, I didn't expect it at all, it was a very difficult competition," Ambra Sabatini began. "I still have to realize that I made the record, it was a goal I had been looking for a long time. I came here with a lot of tension because the girls have been giving me a hard time all season, I took them left and right after Tokyo and instead here I am. I reconfirmed and it's great because it was difficult. They improved so much, Martina had made an incredible record and I tried to come close several times, Monica made the personal best this year, we all grew a lot."
