Bronte sits on the western slopes of Mount Etna, in the province of Catania, together with Adrano and Biancavilla. Here grows a nut with a unique identity: the Pistacchio Verde di Bronte, awarded PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status by the European Union in 2010.
With its strong aroma and emerald-green kernel, this is by no means your “common” pistachio: it is cultivated almost entirely by hand on volcanic terraces, and its flavor makes it one of the most sought-after ingredients around the country.
