In a bit less than 12 months, the prestigious title will move from Lombardy to Tuscany. Pistoia has just been nominated the new capital of culture. This little beautiful city managed to beat its seven competitors: Aquileia, Como, Ercolano, Parma, Pisa, Pistoia, Spoleto, Taranto and Terni.
The aim of the competition is the one of stimulating Italian minor cities to invest more in culture and art. Ravenna won the first contest in 2015, followed by Mantua in 2016. All capital of culture are then expected to spend the whole year to further promote their architectural and artistic heritage, confirming one more time how much culture can contribute to growth and development.
