Many of you know that, for the past eight years, I have led a series called "Adventures in Italian Opera" at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò of New York University. This institution was born of the vision and fortitude of Baroness Mariuccia Zerilli-Marimò, who died suddenly on October 17 at the age of 89.
She was buried in Switzerland. A memorial mass will take place in Milan's Duomo on October 28 at 5:30 p.m. La Baronessa, as she was lovingly known by the many people whose lives she touched, wore her title lightly. It was a legacy of her husband Guido, who died in 1981.
