Rome's Fiumicino airport, known officially as Leonardo da Vinci, has been rated Best European Airport for the fifth time in the last six years. The important international recognition, awarded by Airports Council International (ACI), is in the category of hubs with more than 40 million passengers.
The airport's latest award is in addition to Fiumicino being rated the top airport in Europe for the quality of its passenger services, a recognition it has received from Skytrax for the last six years in a row. The CEO of Aeroporti di Roma Marco Troncone said the "extraordinary result" confirmed the company's commitment to passengers and stakeholders to create a "sustainable airport of the future, to continue to ensure even greater safety, comfort and value-added services."
