The summer forecast is looking good: between June and August, official accommodation facilities are expecting around 211.2 million tourist overnight stays, a 1% increase compared to summer 2024. It’s not the boom of a few years ago, but Italian tourism—despite challenges tied to the macroeconomic climate and competition from low-cost destinations—continues its growth trend in summer 2025.
Demand is mainly focused on seaside and mountain destinations, both projected to grow by 1.1%. Art cities follow with a 1% increase, while lakeside and rural/hill tourism are growing more slowly (+0.7% and +0.6%), though they’re beginning to benefit from a more diversified offering and a gradual shift away from seasonality.
