Summer 2025 in Italy was marked by vacations closer to home, with Italians favoring national destinations and road trips. Over the first week of September, a survey of roughly 5,000 participants in the Touring community – which counts about 300,000 people – revealed the main vacation trends.
About 69% chose to holiday within Italy, up about two points from 2024 – significantly above pre-pandemic levels (63% in 2019). Among those who traveled abroad (31%), most stayed somewhere in Europe (26%), with small proportions heading to the Americas, Asia-Pacific, or Africa and the Middle East. Younger travelers (under 40) were more likely to explore foreign destinations (43%).
