Italy has made it to the semi-finals of the Davis Cup by Rakuten, one of the most prestigious male tennis events in the world. The veteran players Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli faced Jack Sock and Tommy Paul in an unbelievable 6-4, 6-4 victory in Malaga. “The Italian Job” was largely celebrated by the crowd, who sang songs with Fognini and Bolelli after the victory.
“It’s like we are in Italy!” said captain Filippo Volandri, referring to the support that the crowd has shown the team. Fognini said he was “really happy” as “I am here with my ‘brother’ and we played really well”. Bolelli agreed, “I am happy for me, for Fabio, for the team. It was really tough, but it is great to be through to the semi-finals,” he said.
