In a recent survey, 17% of Americans stated that they would consider relocating outside the U.S. within the next five years, with Canada as the most popular choice (19% of respondents), followed by Italy in second place (11%) because of Italy’s cuisine (68%) as its main attraction, with its culture and people (66%) and its natural beauty and landscapes (40%) also being significant draws.

Millennials emerged as the generation most eager to move abroad, with 25% indicating a desire to relocate internationally. Among them, Italy stands out as the preferred destination by far. This trend likely reflects the unique challenges faced by millennials, who have lived through multiple economic recessions, faced growing student debt, and experienced an escalating housing crisis.
