Nearly 40 Italian American players drafted this year—a huge number historically. This is the fifth straight year we have seen an increased number of Italian Americans selected. There were two in the CBA/top 50, three more in the Top 80, with strong representation through all rounds.
Italian American representation in pro baseball remains strong, both in elite early picks and in depth prospects that will feed MiLB rosters. The list does not include Italian Americans who assume their heritage through their mother’s side. The number is higher than 38 and we will uncover those storylines as these players begin their professional careers.
