Hello, We are doing a North American casting search for the HBO limited series, MY BRILLIANT FRIEND, based on the first book of the acclaimed Elena Ferrante Neapolitan series. The first season will cover the entirety of the first book. Saverio Costanza is directing the adaptation.

Need native/fluent speakers in the Neapolitan dialect and classic Italian. These roles will shoot in Naples, Italy and the surrounding area January through June, 2018.

SEEKING:

ELENA – 13 to 18 year old to play 14 through 17 years. MUST BE FLUENT IN ITALIAN AND NEAPOLITAN DIALECT. Light haired with light, liquid eyes, she’s the one who observes everyone and everything and does things only because of Lila’s energy. She sees her own body suddenly exploding, her nose becoming larger, her breasts growing, pimples on her skin. She needs glasses now, feels uncomfortable with her body and she sees herself as shabby, messy. But when she goes to Ischia for the summer, her hair becomes blond, she gets a suntan, her skin gets better and she starts to feel more confident. LILA – 13 to 18 year old to play 14 through 17 years. MUST BE FLUENT IN ITALIAN AND NEAPOLITAN DIALECT. Dark haired with big and lively eyes. Tall, thin, elegant, white and soft skin, still nervous and skinny, but now sinuous, pale face, long and thin neck, an unexpected and delicate beauty. SERIES REGULAR
