Navy Rear Adm. Lisa M. Franchetti was nominated by President Trump for appointment to the rank of vice admiral, and assignment as commander, 6th Fleet, according to a statement from Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis. Franchetti is currently stationed at the Pentagon where she is the Chief of Staff of J-5, the joint staff which proposes strategies, plans, and policy recommendations to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
If confirmed, Franchetti will also be commander, Task Force Six; commander, Striking and Support Forces NATO; deputy commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe; deputy commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa; and Joint Force Maritime Component commander Europe, Naples, Italy.
