We are pleased to announce a new open-access online journal, “Simultanea: Journal of Italian Media and Popular Culture,” co-directed by Marco Arnaudo & Andrea Ciccarelli (Indiana University). Simultanea is a peer-reviewed journal (double blind system), which specializes in Italian/ Italian American pop culture, including but not limited to comics, pop literature, games, media and TV, film, fashion, design, pop music, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, etc. Comparative or theoretical essays that deal substantially with Italian/ Italian American pop culture are welcome.
Articles can be in Italian or English, should follow MLA Style for footnotes and bibliography, and should not exceed 7,000 words. Essays for the section devoted to “Discussions” should not exceed 5,000 words, should address subjects that are at the core of current intellectual debates within the scope of the journal, and may be written in a non- academic style. The deadline for submissions to be included on issue 1 is September 30th.
