The feature-length prequel to the hit HBO series The Sopranos was given both a release date and a name change. Originally titled The Many Saints of Newark, the newer and shorter title of simply Newark will make its theatrical debut on Sept. 25, 2020.
Currently, the plot of the film is unknown, but it the film is said to take place in New Jersey during the Newark riots of the 1960s. During that time, African-American and Italian-American gangs were at odds with each other. The film will be directed by Alan Taylor, who is no stranger to directing shows for HBO.
