Breast cancer, Italy performs better than the EU average in access to and reimbursement for therapies

According to a recent study, breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in Europe and Italy, with over 55,000 new diagnoses every year in our country alone. Thanks to advancements in diagnosis and therapies, the five-year survival rate has reached 88%, exceeding 90% in cases detected early.
 
However, there are still numerous challenges that people with breast cancer face every day, significantly impacting their quality of life both during treatment and in the years that follow. The study examined the current landscape of breast cancer management in Europe at every stage of care, from prevention to diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, to post-care, identifying key ongoing challenges and opportunities for improvement.
