Yesterday, today, tomorrow: Sicily in their hearts. Even for the spring-summer 2014 collection, Dolce e Gabbana do not abandon the land that continues to be for them an inexhaustible source of inspiration. This time, however, the symbols of the island are fused and confused with the memory of a passionate traveler as in a dreamlike state.
The effect that the two designers want to achieve is that of Federico Fellini's "Satyricon" where temples and theaters become surreal visions. The entire collection praises the female body this time leaving the legs on display with mini tunics and shorts, with midi skirts in lace that cling to the silhouette. Chiffon and organza recall archeological motifs: There's the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the theater of Segesta, and the typical Sicilian pottery patterns and the heads of Caltagirone are not lacking. All symbols that the two designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, have in their hearts and have transformed into iconic images that run through their collections.
For the next summer season, lines hug the waist and are marked by belts decorated with antique island coins also used to adorn hairstyles and sandals. Many references to the 50's and a palette of colors that includes black, red, dark green, cream and gold. Dresses in laquered silk and decorated with almond trees in bloom, painted by hand or appliqued to obtain a 3d effect stand out in particular for their originality. The same almond trees that color and scent the Valley of Agrigento.
Many are the creations on leather to obtain gold effects, perhaps matched with alpaca fur vests and polka dotted sheaths.
In accessories, to the classic Sicily and Dolce Bag, in various leathers and materials, they've added the Eva and Sara models.
