A new bakery and Italian spot, offering pizza and more, has debuted in the neighborhood. The new addition to midtown Sacramento, called Gran Milan, is located at 1801 L St. This is Gran Milan's second location, with the first in the East Bay city of Richmond. The two founders, who first met in the 1990s, "set their sights on giving the U.S. the heart of Italy" and providing artisanal breads, coffees and desserts from their home country.
On the menu, diners can find pizza, focaccia and sandwiches. Those with a sweet tooth can also enjoy a wide range of desserts, including fruit tarts and gelato. For drinks, Gran Milan serves espressos and machiattos with beans imported from Italy. For non-coffee options, look for a thick Milan-style hot chocolate. Gran Milan has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a four-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.
