The second season of CLU's International Film Festival continues with the Italian film "Cesare deve morire" ("Caesar Must Die"), directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, screening at 7 p.m. Wed., Nov. 12 at Carmike Thousand Oaks 14 (formerly Muvico) at The Oaks mall, 166 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.
A drama-within-a-drama, the film was made in Rome's Rebibbia Prison, where inmates are preparing to stage Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar." The prisoners explore the text, finding parallels to their own lives in the tale of power and betrayal. During the rehearsals, photographed in nooks and crannies within the prison, the inmates also work through their own conflicts. The film is in Italian with subtitles. Admission is free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
