Filming Italy – Los Angeles, founded and directed by Tiziana Rocca, has announced that Italian actor Franco Nero will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will present Nero with the honor in the Motion Pictures category in February 2026, during the festival’s eleventh edition.
This marks a significant milestone for Filming Italy, which has now helped secure a third star for an Italian artist. Previous recipients were screen legend Gina Lollobrigida in 2018—celebrated during her 90th birthday—and Giancarlo Giannini in 2023.
Tiziana Rocca, Artistic Director of Filming Italy – Los Angeles, commented: “It’s a tremendous honor to promote, through my festival, this well-deserved recognition for the great Franco Nero. This will be the third Italian star we've helped bring to the Walk of Fame, and I couldn’t be more proud. For years, Filming Italy has collaborated with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which has been championing and preserving the legacy of the Walk of Fame since 1953. After honoring Gina Lollobrigida and Giancarlo Giannini, this recognition for Franco Nero in 2026 is a powerful moment for Italian cinema.”
A true icon of both Italian and international film, Franco Nero’s career spans over 60 years and includes more than 200 films. Known for his depth, charisma, and range, he has worked with legendary directors such as Sergio Corbucci, Luis Buñuel, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and Quentin Tarantino. His unforgettable performance in Django cemented his status as a symbol of the Italian Western genre, but his artistic path has been remarkably diverse—crossing from auteur cinema to mainstream hits, as well as stage and television. With his commanding presence and artistic integrity, Nero remains a point of reference for generations of actors and a global ambassador of Italian film.
The 11th edition of Filming Italy – Los Angeles will be held in February 2026 in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, APA (Italian Audiovisual Producers Association), and under the patronage of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, along with support from ITA (Italian Trade Agency).
Created and produced by Tiziana Rocca, Agnus Dei, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, Filming Italy – Los Angeles (www.filmingitalylosangeles.it) not only promotes Italy as a film location and cultural bridge between Italy and the U.S., but also champions Italian cinema and its global reach by supporting internationalization of Italian audiovisual productions and fostering creative exchanges among filmmakers, producers, and artists.
