Mike D'Antoni has resigned as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, the team announced Wednesday night. D'Antoni, who holds American and Italian dual citizenship, joined the Lakers in November, 2012 after Mike Brown was fired following just 71 games in charge.
D'Antoni had a 67-87 record during his tenure as the Lakers' coach. The Lakers suffered through an injury-plagued season this year, ending with a 27-55 record — their worst campaign in more than 50 years and the second-worst winning percentage in franchise history.
