For the 28th year, the Delaware County Senior Games are once again underway. Bocce kicked off the events Monday morning at Rose Tree Park. The heavy rains didn’t keep 16 teams from competing on four bocce courts that had been set up by the Italian Abruzzese Asocial of Delco. “We love it,” said Diana Hudson. “We just do it for the fun.”
Denise Stewart, director of COSA (County Office of Services for the Aging) said nearly 700 seniors registered for the games, which run through June 22. Events include: track and field; shuffleboard; golf; bowling; swimming; billiards; table tennis; horseshoes; pickle ball; wii bowling;and new this year archery. Any Delaware County resident is eligible. COSA organizes the games with the Delaware County Council, along with a big assist from the county Department of Parks and Recreation and Destination Delco Visitor’s Bureau.
