UNICO of Basking Ridge is inviting the community to rediscover the timeless game of bocce at their Bocce Day event on Saturday, May 3, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at the newly refurbished bocce court near the pavilion in Harry Dunham Park.
With roots tracing back to ancient Rome, bocce remains a beloved pastime in Italy and among Italian Americans. Georgeann Di Rienzo and Debbie Shahpazian of the Basking Ridge UNICO Chapter recall growing up playing the game with their families—often competitively—and now hope to share that joy with others in the community. They’re even hoping to spark enough interest to form a local bocce league.
