A few months ago, fans of The Sopranos were given an unexpected treat when a prequel film was announced with a script from the show's creator David Chase, co-written by Lawrence Konner. Rather than continue on from the events of the famous finale, the creators have made the clever decision to set The Many Saints Of Newark in the 1960s. This being said, the film will feature several characters from the iconic HBO series.
For example, we're expecting to see younger versions of Tony Soprano’s father and mother, played in the original series in flashback by Joseph Siravo and Nancy Marchand. Tony’s uncle Junior might also appear. As for the plot, the film takes place in the 1960s, when riots swept through Newark, New Jersey and conflicts between African-American and Italian residents were at their worst.
