The Rehoboth Area Chapter of UNICO recently held its 13th annual Brian Piccolo Scholarship program at St. Edmond Parish Hall. Each year a scholar-athlete of Italian heritage, who exemplifies courage, friendship, loyalty, teamwork, dedication, sense of humor and anti-bias, as modeled in the life and career of Brian Piccolo, is chosen for this honor.
A team of impartial judges select the winner based on these distinguishing qualities, along with letters of recommendation from guidance counselors and coaches, and essays in which the candidates outline their athletic experiences and the important influence of Italian heritage in their lives.
