October 29, 2015 - Thursday 1:00 PM - Mount Prospect Public Library - 10 South Emerson Street - Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056. Pianist Chuck Billington will take you on a musical journey through Italian history and culture. He'll start with 17th- and 18th-century Italian keyboard works, go into a barcarolle, or a Venetian boat song, and from there enter the Vatican for one of the most profound religious works ever written, the "Panis Angelicus."
Venture into the realm of the greatest Italian composer who happened to be French, Claude Debussy, with an "Arabesque," the famous "Claire de Lune," the engaging Neapolitan dance Passapied, and finish this tribute with one of the most difficult pieces he wrote, the "Tarantelle Styrienne." The recital ends with two of the most beautiful Italian love songs ever created, "O Mio Babbino Caro" from Verdi's opera Gianni Schicchi, and Modugno's huge hit from 1959, best known by audiences as "Volare."
