The twinning between Monza and the capital of Indiana continues under the banner of motors. Seven students from Monza had the opportunity to confront themselves with different American entrepreneurial and educational realities right in Indianapolis, the city of the circuit.
The training course was created as part of the twinning projects between the two "cities of speed", Monza and Indianapolis, starting from a common identity: the presence of the two oldest circuits in the history of motor racing, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, built in 1911, and the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, which next year will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
This experience abroad that has just ended for seven Monzese represents an added value for the students' education. The cultural exchange between Monza and American students was made possible thanks to the "Sister Cities" project, an organization founded in 1956 with the aim of promoting collaboration between different and distant peoples. Seven students (six boys and one girl) from Monza participated in the cultural exchange project in Indianapolis from November 17 to 24. They were enrolled at the Politecnico di Milano, the University of Bergamo, IULM and the University of Bologna.
The experience was under the banner of motorsport, as mentioned above, but also of technology. The training project included encounters with some quality sporting and entrepreneurial experiences in Indianapolis. The first "stop" on the "tour" was a visit to the plants of two car teams in the "IndyCar Series" followed by a visit to the Emilian company "Dallara" which in 2012 opened the "Dallara Indy Factory", an important research and development center, just a stone's throw from the legendary American bowl. And, since today the world of engines is closely linked to that of technology, the students visited "16 Tech", the Indianapolis innovation district. There were also discussions with students from the University of Indianapolis and Marian University and the opportunity to visit the city and discover American history.
