Actor Steve Schirripa was living in Las Vegas and had a full-time job at a hotel when he auditioned for “The Sopranos,” he said. Schirripa said he first auditioned for a role as the FBI agent on "The Sopranos," but was told, "No, we don’t see you as that guy, we see you as 'Bacala,'" he said. A week later, he auditioned again for creator David Chase and got the role.
"It was like hitting the lottery," Schirripa told fans at the Brockton Rox' "Sopranos Night" at Campanelli Stadium on June 21. The event featured Schirripa, best known for playing gangster Robert “Bobby” Baccalieri Jr. on the Emmy-Award winning series "The Sopranos," hosting a pregame VIP meet and greet — where fans enjoyed a private pregame Italian buffet-style meal and had the opportunity to take photos and get his autograph.
