Michéal Castaldo, an award-winning classical crossover singer and songwriter, was one of the featured performers at the 20th Annual Sergio Franchi Memorial Concert on August 23, 2014. The outdoor event was held on the grounds of the Franchi estate in Stonington, Connecticut, with an audience of over 5000 people.
Castaldo performed Senza Catene (Unchained Melody) from his Aceto CD. Each year the concert attracts thousands of attendees and benefits the Sergio Franchi Music Foundation Scholarship for the Arts. Eva Franchi, event organizer and widow of Sergio Franchi, welcomed everyone to the event and introduced the 2014 Grand Winners for the awe-inspiring show. The orchestra, under the direction of conductor Maestro Jeff Domoto, was comprised of musicians that came together from Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.
Michéal Castaldo is the living embodiment of authentic Italian culture. A native of Calabria in the "tip of the toe" of Italy, Michéal is an accomplished pop-classical crossover singer of his native songs. He was featured live on ABC TV for his performance on the red carpet during the 2012 Columbus Day Parade. And in March of 2014, he won the Top Artist award in the contest held by ArtistSignal.com.
