The Callas Tribute Prize will return at the Italian Cultural Institute on Monday, November 28. The awards, which will begin at 6 pm, are conceived by Dante Mariti and produced by Melos International. The event, which falls on the centenary of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s birth, celebrates Maria Callas and Pasolini, two icons of Italian culture, featuring music, theatre, fashion and awards that will be presented by RAI host Vittoriana Abate.
Some of the artists that will be awarded are: Katia Ricciarelli, who enchanted audiences all over the world with her voice. Claudia Gerini who stands out not only as an actress but also for her attention to women’s issues–on stage and off–and to those of Iranian women, in particular. Rosa Feola, young Italian soprano currently soloist at the Met Opera in NY. Finally, to Carmen Giannattasio, for her great performance of Tosca at the Rome Opera and for her splendid career.
