Saturday, July 19th, 3:00 pm. 10 per person (event ticket and admission to the Museum’s current exhibition). Italian American Museum - 151 Mulberry Street - New York, NY 10013. In celebration of the 175th Anniversary of Giuseppe Garibaldi’s arrival in New York, the Italian American Museum proudly presents “Garibaldi’s Gotham” by Robert Spiotto, Saturday, July 19th at 3:00 pm.

This unique performance pays fitting tribute to Giuseppe Garibaldi, the Father of Italian Unification, and his time spent in New York (1850-1853). This one man performance experience is composed of historic narrative, poems, stories, speeches, anecdotes and quotes, and is appropriately enhanced by period costume, along with several visuals, pictures and images, as well as assorted props and an appropriate musical soundtrack.

Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882), also known as the “hero of two worlds,” successfully fought, against great odds, for the unification of Italy. A true freedom fighter, he was also a great political actor and military showman. He arrived in New York in 1850 and settled in Staten Island, becoming an American idol in his own unique way. Incorporating fascinating stories, poetry and quotes, as well as music and images, Mr. Spiotto takes on the “mane” of this Italian patriot, exploring Garibaldi’s time in “Gotham.”
