Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival has announced its 18th annual celebration of contemporary Italian cinema and culture. This year's event is set for Nov. 14-17 at the Queen Street Playhouse, 20 Queen St., Charleston, SC. The festival will screen 13 feature films and documentaries with select showings holding Q&A sessions immediately following.

Featured films include Matteo Garrone’s magnificent “Io capitano,” a hero’s journey featuring two young cousins emigrating from Senegal; Edoardo De Angelis’ “Comandante,” a compelling drama that examines the conflict between wartime protocols and maritime ethics; and John Maggio’s documentary “Milano: The Inside Story of Italian Fashion.” Maggio will be among the special guests attending the festival.
