Given Italy's recent history, thanks mainly to former prime minister Silvio "Bunga Bunga" Berlusconi's sex scandals, the nation's crazy politics are ripe for mockery.
The political satire "Viva La Liberta," which is being shown this weekend at All Saints Cinema by the Tallahassee Film Society, takes a few good shots at the egotism of the Italian ruling elite but it is too soft-hearted and cliched when it needs to be sharp and stinging. "Being There" (1979) it is not.
