The Italian American Bocce Club of Greater New Orleans gathered for an hour at their headquarters on Wednesday night in Metairie, LA for the final spring league games ahead of Saturday's championships. Six teams played on 3 courts. Long-time member Giorgio Beltram said he picks the seven teams to make it more fair, pairing less practiced participants with the more experienced captains.
The winning team on Saturday's championships gets their photo on the coveted Wall of Fame. The club was officially created in 1971. The seven members played around the Greater New Orleans Area and established a full-time clubhouse in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans until 1992 when they moved to Severn Avenue in Metairie.
