WTI Magazine #59 2015 May, 1
Author : Umberto Mucci Translation by:
Ciao from Rome! As previously announced, We the Italians is working in partnership with a few other friends on Tony Lo Bianco's "Little Flower" one-man show, for the first time in Italy on May 18 here in the Eternal city. It will be a legendary evening, with VIP and the most important personalities of the American world here in Rome. We are so pleased to have the opportunity to offer our fellow Italians a wonderful actor like Tony Lo Bianco, and an amazing story like Fiorello's: as I wrote in the interview with Tony (don't miss it! It's right in this issue), we always say that Italy needs more America: for sure we can say that Italy now would desperately need a Fiorello La Guardia, and in a way, in May he will be here.
Talking about theatre, we have a contest for you! We're partnering with the organizers of "Dinner with the Boys", the deliciously hilarious new comedy starring Dan Lauria ("The Wonder Years", Lombardi), Ray Abruzzo ("The Sopranos") and Richard Zavaglia ("Donnie Brasco"). Its Off-Broadway debut this spring has been at the Acorn Theatre at Theater Row (410 W. 42 St.) in New York City, with preview performances starting April 21 prior to an official opening night on May 4. We have two vouchers, every one of which is valid for two tickets. Contestant winners will have until May 31st to redeem tickets for performances Tuesday -Saturday. They will find a schedule on the voucher that they will have to choose from. Or if you can't wait, you can use our Special We the Italians Discount Offer TRDWBLSP!
But how to participate to the contest? It's very simple. The vouchers will go to the first and the second who will email us at info@wetheitalians.com the highest number of valid email to subscribe to our free newsletter. Subscribe your friends, your family, everyone you would think is interested in our newsletter: it's free! The more new subscribers you will bring, the higher will be the probability to win the voucher for two tickets. Remember, we have two vouchers, so the winners will be either the first and the second! What are you waiting for? Email us at info@wetheitalians.com.
As always, also in our 59th issue of this magazine we will drive you on an interesting "Grand Tour" of the amazing Italy. We will bring you all over Italy for its numerous fantastic festivals; we will let you feel the particular taste of Quartirolo cheese from Lombardia, where we will also tell you about another content of Expo 2015, which starts right in these days. We will welcome you in Rome to show you its wonderful villas and then a magnificent exhibition about Baroque for our Italian art column. Then we will move to Umbria, in Norcia, the wonderful "borgo" of this issue, and in Terni for the Italian tradition called "Cantamaggio"; and then in Lazio again to know something more about the Viterbo stone. Up to Emilia Romagna, in Parma we will visit the magnificent Colorno Royal Palace and its garden and then we'll head south: to Sicily for our Italian wine column. Sicily is also the homeland of the ancestors of our friend Jjosephine Maietta, who is the author of our IT and US column of this issue, regarding the gala recently organized by the Association of Italian American Educators. That's just a preview of all you will find in this issue of We the Italians magazine!
Before to say goodbye, let me remind you the awesome opportunity given by the partnership between John Cabot University and We The Italian: two brand new Italian-American Heritage Scholarship. You can find the specifics in this previous editorial, or you can contact admissions@johncabot.edu for more information.
That's all for now. So stay tuned, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride. The future's so bright, we gotta wear shades!
