The Italian American community is coming together to go to EXPO Milano 2015 this fall! With this year's Italian Heritage and Culture Month theme, "Italian Creativity: Celebrating 50 years of Science and Technology, New York World's Fair 1965 – Expo Milano 2015," it's only fitting that a coalition of proud Italian Americans should witness the historic World's Fair, the first to take place in Italy since 1992.
The National Organization of Italian American Women (NOIAW) has teamed up with the Conference of Presidents of Major Italian American Organizations, under the leadership of Joseph Sciame, to present the trip, which takes place from Sept. 10 - 18, 2015. Travelers will return just in time to fully engage in the Italian Heritage and Culture Month activities in October.
The Conference of Presidents is an umbrella organization that unites the leaders of all of the major organizations for Americans of Italian heritage. This is the first time that NOIAW has collaborated with the Conference of Presidents on a trip to Italy. The goal is to bring Italian Americans in closer contact with the culture of their ancestors and reconnect with Italy's rich legacy of creativity in science, technology and innovation.
The ten-day trip is packed with unique Italian experiences beyond the Expo, including tours of some of Piemonte's most beautiful Medieval villages; visits to a traditional rice producer and vineyard; a meeting with the Zegna family of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group; and a private tour of Lake Como and Bellagio. In Sordevolo, a small town in Piemonte, the group will witness a historic production of the Passion of the Christ, put on by the villagers every five years. Travellers will enjoy accomodations at four-star hotels in Como and Biella (in Piemonte) and private transportation to all activities.
Limited spaces on the trip are still available. Please call 212-642-2003, e-mail noiaw@noiaw.org, or check www.noiaw.org for more information.
