Electric vehicles are expensive, but buying them in a group might allow to save up to 20%. There are in fact a growing amount of people who, in order to reduce the environmental impact of car emissions and save on fuel costs, are turning their attention to hybrid cars.

In particular in Italy, if we consider electric cars as a good alternative candidate, thanks to the 2014 eco tax breaks we could considerably save on their purchase. However, these vehicles are still too expensive, 20-40% more than the equivalent traditional models, and in a period of crisis this constitutes a considerable disincentive, associated with limited autonomy and with the long recharge times.

To put a concrete remedy to this situation, Gianalfredo Furini and Luca Dal Sillaro from Gai – Gruppo d'acquisto ibrido (hybrid purchasing group) created the "electric cars purchasing group", the first in Italy dedicated to zero emissions passenger cars. Supporting the initiative are also the eV-Now! foundation and the EnergoClub association, long engaged in the "Svolta elettrica" (Electric turn) project for the dissemination of electric plug-in vehicles in our country. At the moment, the GAI electric cars purchasing group deals purchases only zero emissions Renault vehicles, but in the future they will open to other brands.

Membership to the group is free and you can register without any commitment by filling out a form on the site. The final discount which you are entitled to is not well defined: for the moment GAI was able to get a 20% saving, but it is still too early to decree it as a final figure.

Supporters of "Svolta elettrica" also offer to provide information and technical advice for all those who will evaluate the possibility of buying a plug-in car, advising models, possible incentives and most suitable types of charging columns.
GAI has opened a group even for fans of biking, dedicated to the purchase of electric bikes. The rules are similar to those for other products and the price reduction reaches 19%.

The idea of Gianalfredo Furini and Luca Dal Sillaro is to propose, for the month of September, the organization of a new group for the purchase of zero emissions scooters and, later, one for charging stations.
