The year 2024 will be an extraordinary year for Italian sports with many great events where the Italian athletes will be able to give many satisfactions to the fans. The most eagerly awaited event, of course, is the Paris Olympic Games and the following Paralympic Games, which will offer the greatest sporting spectacle in the world in the summer.

After its great success in the 2020 Tokyo edition, when we won an all-time record of 40 medals (10 gold, 10 silver and 20 bronze) and especially won with Marcell Jacobs the gold in the 100 meters as well as the gold in the 4x100 relay, Italy has many chances to be able to win even more.

Athletics with Tamberi, Jacobs and the marchers Palmisano and Stano, swimming with Ceccon, Paltrinieri and Pilato, cycling with the phenomenon Ganna, volleyball with the men's and women's national teams that have dominated the international scene for the past two years, fencing with at least ten athletes in the three weapons, taekwondo with Olympic and world champion Dell'Aquila and world champion Alessio, boxing with world champion Testa, sailing with Banti and Tita world champions in the Nacra 17 class, are all sports where an Olympic Games garlic medal is almost certain.

In Paris, Italy will also be able to win dozens of medals in the Paralympic Games, because there are so many great disabled champions in all sports disciplines, so it will be possible to surpass the record of 69 medals (14 gold, 29 silver and 26 bronze) obtained in Tokyo 2020.

But, before attending the big Olympic event, there will be many other opportunities to cheer on the great Italian champions. Starting with winter sports, with Super-G World Champion Marta Bassino and Combined World Champion Federica Brignone ready to win on slopes around the world.

And then the Moto Gp World Championship, with Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia who will return to the track in March with his Ducati with the goal of making motorcycling history for good by winning his third consecutive world championship.

In June, there will be two unmissable events.

The European Athletics Championships will be held in Rome, with the blue stars taking on the strongest champions of the old continent at the Olympic Stadium to demonstrate all of Italy's athletic power.

In Germany, meanwhile, the national soccer team will go to defend the European title won three years ago in England. On the Azzurri bench there is no longer Roberto Mancini but Luciano Spalletti, the coach who last year performed the miracle of getting Napoli back to winning the Italian championship.

2024 will also be the year that will see tennis Italy defend the Davis Cup, won in 2023 by Arnaldi, Bolelli, Musetti, Sinner and Sonego, 47 years after Italy first won the prestigious tournament for nations. There will also be great anticipation for Sinner, world number four, who will chase his first Slam tournament this year.

In May, there will be the 107th Giro d'Italia, the most important bicycle stage race in the world after the Tour de France; in August, the America's Cup will begin with Italians cheering on Luna Rossa, the boat that will be competing for the sixth time in the world's most important sailing trophy; and in September, the World Cycling Championships will take place, with Italy's Filippo Ganna trying to defend the world title in the individual pursuit won last year in Glasgow.

For all Italian fans, 2024 will be a truly extraordinary year and certainly full of sporting satisfaction!
