When Detective Karen Apicella was informed that the Southington Police Cadet Post would soon receive a major donation, she said the money came at a time when the program really needed it. Members of the program will help run the beverage booth at the 14th annual Southington Italian-American Festival, with the program receiving a portion of the sales.
“It helps us tremendously,” Apicella said. “The funding we receive from the town was cut due to the budget cuts.” Apicella said the program has traditonally received donations, but the town cut the funding while reviewing this year’s spending plan.
