Looking for a taste test for your home-made wine? You can bring it to the 11th Annual Italian American Festival on July 25, where there will be a free wine-tasting contest. In the UNICO-sponsored contest, a panel of 10 judges will do a blind tasting of each submission at 2 p.m., underneath the tent on the right-hand side of Center Street.
The only information the panel will have during the judging is the type of wine they are tasting and the vintage. Judges will score each submission based on criteria such as aroma, initial taste and aftertaste, color and clarity. Judges will eat pepper biscuits, donated by ShopRite and Southington, to keep their palates sensitive.
