Mt. Carmel Society readies for its yearly Italian Festival

Throughout the last century, the U.S. has experienced a depression, two World Wars, the Vietnam War, and a recession, but Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society continues to persevere, according to its president, Carl Sferrazza. For the last 88 years, the organization located in Enfield has shared Italian traditions with the community and given families the opportunity to enjoy good food and live entertainment locally every year.

"That's just a summer tradition here in Enfield," said Sferrazza, also chief of police for the town of Enfield. This year's celebration will take place Friday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 3, from 4 to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 4, from 5 to 10 p.m. In addition to live entertainment and Italian food each night, there will also be carnival rides.
