A weekend of Manhattan festivities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Venetian Heritage crescendoed with a soirée hosted by the institution’s indefatigable president, Peter Marino, and philanthropist Katharine Rayner at the Morgan Library and Museum.
The dinner was preceded by a private viewing of the Morgan’s exquisite exhibition “Invention and Design: Early Italian Drawings,” followed by the concert Vivaldi: Glories of Venice, performed with great vivacity by the engaging members of the Boston-based Handel and Haydn Society (founded in 1815 and the oldest continually performing arts organization in the country). The musicians played on instruments of Vivaldi’s era, including the poetically named (and sounding) viola d’amore.
