Larry Caramella's voice helped launch three Portland TV stations

One of Portland's broadcasting pioneers died this month at age 92. He wasn't a household name, but Larry Caramella's voice helped launch three Portland television stations and provided the soundtrack to countless commutes in the 1950s.

From her home in Oregon City, his daughter, Janice Leonetti, laid out a collection of memorabilia from her his nearly 40-year career, which ended with his retirement from KATU in 1985. She still has the puppet he used on a morning kids show, the 45 record box he used to host sock hops, and the advertisements for his rock n roll radio shows.
