April 8th, 6:30 p.m. - The Italian Social Group will host the Honorary Italian Consul in Portland, Vytas Babusis! Vytas Babusis' life story sounds like the plot of an American dream in reverse. Here is someone who spent 15 glorious years in Italy, blending in from the bustling streets of Rome to the serene vineyards of Tuscany to the temples in Sicily to the business center of Milan.
He began his Italian adventure by eating Italian food and drinking Italian wine, and then woke up as the quintessential unregistered immigrant, yet somehow morphed into a legally documented English language teacher, company director, and entrepreneur—all without losing his passport or his sense of humor!
Now back in the USA, he’s a lawyer who can argue while whipping up al dente pasta, a gardener with a patch of land that thrives under his perfected STUN method—sheer total utter neglect, and a father of two Roman-born gladiators-in-training. In his spare time, he is either the Honorary Consul in Portland or probably found debating Formula One team and technical strategies with fellow aficionados.
