Enel Green Power, a portfolio company of Italian-based Enel, has completed and activated a geothermal plant at Cove Fort, its first plant in the state of Utah. Cove Fort is a medium-enthalpy geothermal plant with innovative binary cycle technology. With an installed capacity of 25 MW, the plant will be capable of generating up to 160GWh of renewable energy every year, preventing the emission of 115,000 tons of CO2 every year. Construction of the plant required an investment of $126,000,000.
As we've learned before, Italy and Italian companies are heavily invested in clean, renewable energy such as wind, photo voltaic and concentrated solar power as well as leading in the development and implementation of sustainable building standards.
