Before his rise as a leading progressive political analyst and author, Michael Parenti learned about life growing up on the streets of New York's Italian East Harlem. The Berkeley author, a strong voice for the political left, gave a glimpse of his early life during a special book reading in an unusual location -- the credit union where he is a member.
Berkeley's Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union hosted a Jan. 29 reading for its members by the internationally known author of the memoir, "Waiting For Yesterday: Pages from a Street Kid's Life" published by Bordighera Press in 2013. His latest book is "Profit Pathology and Other Indecencies."
