The first in a series of evenings centered around the theme "Literary Locations," Elena Ferrante's Naples will take you to one of the most extraordinary cities in Italy. Beautiful Naples has long held a place in the literary imagination. Writers as diverse as Goethe, Stendhal, Leopardi and Neruda have described its allure. For 21st-century readers, it is novelist Elena Ferrante who captures the siren call of Naples. Her city is a “mosaic of strong, disruptive emotions” that act as forces of creation and destruction in the lives of her characters. The Italian Cultural Institute invites you to an evening of discussion on Ferrante and Naples, real and imagined, with authors Sara Marinelli, Beth Nguyen, photographer Flavia Loreto, and cultural travel guide Melanie Blake.
