The mayor of Elk Grove Village's Italian sister city, Termini Imerese in Palermo, Sicily, arrived at O'Hare Airport last week with a small delegation to visit his sister city and fellow mayor Craig Johnson. Termini Imerese Mayor Salvatore Burrafato and four others visited Chicago and Elk Grove Village.
They joined officials Bensenville's sister city Zihuatanejo, Mexico, who also arrived last week. Both delegations flew back home Wednesday, Oct. 14. Although they do not have a formal sister city relationship, Zihuatanejo has maintained a formal friendship agreement with Elk Grove Village since 2013.
