Michael Petito — a lifelong Stamford resident, World War II veteran and golf lover — celebrated his 100th birthday Thursday. “It’s funny because he’s so humble and modest, he doesn’t want anything big,” said one of his daughters, Michele Guarnieri.
Guarnieri said she is waiting until it’s safe to throw a party for her father and take him to a casino. On Thursday, the plan was just for Guarnieri and her sister, Diane LoBalbo, to have dinner and cake with their father. “He’s a homebody. He’s very low key,” Guarnieri said. “He just says that he wants to stay home.” Petito was born March 4, 1921 in Stamford.
